Jacob had an exciting weekend last weekend.  On Sunday the 20th Jacob was baptized at the Celebration City park.  Congratulations Jacob, and I am sorry I missed this exciting event.  Mr. Sheets, Emma and I all went out of town to visit Emma’s grandparents.

Emma is getting ready to turn 1 year old next week and guess what….she loves to read! Below is a picture of Emma reading her books…okay so she isn’t really reading she is just looking through the books and jabbering but it is still cute.

Today in the book Mallory and Jared were searching through the old shed and found a newspaper article.  The newspaper was dated 1885 and said Local Boy Lost and as they read on Mallory and Jared realized the boy had been eaten by a bear and the only surviving brother was Aruthur Spiderwick.  Make a prediction about why you think this is important to the kids.  What do you think they will find out as they continue to search through the shed?

Hey class!

I am so sorry about being gone the past few days.  I will be back on Tuesday and I have made so many fun things for us to do on the computer.  Emma is doing a little better she has an ear infection and something called RSV (it just means she can’t catch her breath sometimes).  Anyway, so I am at home taking care of her…but I look foward to logging on and reading your comments on this blog.  So tell me what you have been up to the last couple of days, any plans for the weekend?  Be good for the sub, I don’t want to have to deal with behavior issues when I get back…let’s be ready to dive right back in to making your comic book. 
Anyway, have a great 3 day weekend and I will see you on Tuesday when I come back.

This is where you kids can talk back and forth to friends or family.

Whew!  We have been out for a whole two weeks.  What things did you do over your vacation?  Who did you visit?  Did you get any new items or things that you played with?  Did you see friends? 

 I spent time with my family.  Emma, Mr. Sheets and I did a lot of laying around and resting.  I also got a Webkinz account and enjoyed playing with the puppy online and earning Webkinz money. 

Fall is a great time of the year.  Make a top ten list about the ten best things you like about Fall. 

After creating our dragonfly pond community what do you think were the most important things that needed to be built in the community and why.  During the project you had to try to defend why you wanted to put different buildings, farms, parks, and homes in a certain place.  Tell what things you feel are vital (very important) for a community to run, can we do without any of the things that were in our community? 

In chapter 6 of The Boxcar Children the kids hear a noise while they are trying to get ready to go to sleep.  Imagine you are staying with the children in the boxcar, what thoughts would run through your mind when you hear that noise, and what might you think that strange noise is? 

We have been reading about all of those wacky characters who go to Wayside School.  Each one has something a little different or funny about them.  I was thinking this weekend about what it would be like if you were one of those characters in Wayside School!  What would your chapter be about?  What unusual or funny thing would you do in your chapter?  Let’s come up with some ideas about what “Sideways Stories from Room 508” might look like!
